Herbaceous specialists - over 6000 varieties - many choice and rare, grown from wild-collected seed and previously unavailable in the UK.

Established in 1983 by Alan Bidwell (I'm still hanging in there!)

A small, attractive display garden - often a home for our stock plants

A 4 acre wildlife meadow with wonderful views across the valley

The nursery is in the centre of the rural village of Ashdon (map) about 250 metres towards Saffron Walden from the Rose & Crown public house. Ashdon is a charming conservation village set within the rolling hills of NW Essex the borders of both Cambridgeshire and Suffolk only a (long) stones throw away.  The old market town of Saffron Walden is 4 miles to the west - click for a suggested route through if coming from the London or the west - please note a section of the Ashdon Road in Saffron Walden is currently closed for gas installation. Please follow the signs directing you along Radwinter Road, Elizabeth Way back onto the Ashdon Raod

Monday to Saturday - 8.30am to 5.30pm
Sunday & Bank Holidays - 9.30am to 5.00pm
